(SRI) - The National Security Committee (KNB), Kazakhstan’s intelligence service, concluded its criminal investigation of Mukhtar Dzhakishev, the former head of the state nuclear company Kazatomprom, and his associates, the IA Novosti news agency reported on Tuesday.
According to a KNB spokesman quoted by IA Novosti, the KNB will now provide its materials to the defendants and their lawyers.
Meanwhile, Dzhakishev’s mother and a Kazakh human rights group said Dzhakishev requires immediate hospitalization as his health has deteriorated during his detention, the KazTAG news agency reported.
Dzhakishev was sacked from his long-held post as head of Kazatomprom on May 21 on the recommendation of Kazakhstan’s General Prosecutor’s Office, and subsequently arrested under suspicion of embezzlement.
